A win against over-consumption, even just for today.

Gav and I walked around Target and Wal-mart for two hours waiting for D to get off work.

Shopping is a purposeful endeavor for me: beeline to what is needed, done in 15 min. or less.
Do not get me wrong, I love businesses, it's just not the most useful allocation of my time.

There was a phase in my life when I will buy everything;
when I enjoyed some sort of rush in acquiring stuff:
big stuff, little stuff, sparkly stuff, pointy stuff, stuff that goes with other stuff.
Until all my new stuff became clutter.
And the clutter became stress.
Then, a tipping point -- an understanding.

I fell in love with the concept of minimalism.
And some old age Buddhist philosophy --
or more generally the basic tenets of most religious and philosophical principles:   live simply.

With two hours on hand, Gav and I ventured to these stores, in 100 degree weather, free AC was very alluring.

I enjoyed it -- the layouts, the colors, the products, the people, the kids running around.
I took some organizing ideas, too.

By and by, we left with two needed items: socks and a pair of sleeping shorts for him. (so he can retire one of his shin high pj's).

#a win against over-consumption ... even just for today.
